Aurora's GDS has EV Ready Requirements as part of their points based GDS.
In addition, Town of Aurora Electric Vehicle Charging Station Policy for the development and expansion of EV infrastructure on Town property. The Policy outlines minimum EV charging station infrastructure requirements for:
- Existing Town facilities and existing parking lots;
- New facilities, new parking lots and for major facility building renovations; and
- Electrical capacity increases under Town infrastructure planning.
Brampton
Brampton's Sustainable New Communities Program has a points based system for EV-Ready Requirements. For example, 3 points are given if Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) is provided for 10% of parking spaces. 5 points are given if EVSE is provided to 20% of parking spaces and 2 points are given if at least 50% of the parking spaces are designed and constructed to permit future EVSE installation (e.g. rough-in).
Burlington
The City's Sustainable Building and Development Guidelines, 2021, has voluntary guidelines for EV Ready requirements however there is no mandatory requirements for uptake.
Guelph
At present the City of Guelph does not have EV Ready Requirements for new developments.
Halton Hills
There are points allocated to EV Ready Requirements in the Halton Hills points based GDS.
King
King Township has EV Ready metrics within its points based system within their Green Development Standard.
Ottawa
Zoning Bylaw update includes draft provision of 100% EV-Ready infrastructure for residential properties, and 30% EV-Ready requirements for commercial properties. Zoning Bylaw Update page, and section 611 represents Electric Vehicle Parking Space Requirements.
Pickering
Integrated Sustainable Design Standards, 2022 have EV-Ready Requirements. For example, for low-rise and MURB, 40% of parking spaces must have EV rough-in and 10% have EV-ready charging infrastructure or equivalent electric vehicle energy management systems.
Richmond Hill
Sustainability Metrics Program (SMP) Guidebook has EV Ready Requirements in metric BE-10; For example, Electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) is provided to serve 10% /20%/50% of parking spaces (depending on the Target Level - Good/Great/Excellent).
Toronto
City of Toronto has adopted EV Ready Requirements as part of their Zoning Bylaw and the TGS version 4 requiring all residential parking spaces provided for dwelling units located in an apartment building, mixed-use building, and multiple dwelling unit building, but excluding visitor parking, must include an energized outlet capable of providing Level 2 charging or higher to the parking space.
Vaughan
EV Ready requirements are incorporated in the Sustainability Metrics. For example, residential: (EVSE) is provided to serve 10% , 20%, 50% of parking spaces for, respectively Bronze, Silver, and Gold performance level.
Whitby
There are EV Ready Requirements in Tier 2 Core Performance. For example, at least 20% of parking spaces are equipped with electric vehicle charging stations.
