Town of Ajax has a new Transportation Demand Management Plan (TDM) launched in March 2023. TDM is a series of community-based initiatives designed to encourage residents and people who work in the Town to use sustainable modes of transportation more often. Complete Street Guidelines has been incorporated in the TDM.
Barrie
The Barrie Active Transportation Plan is incorporated into the Transportation Master Plans for the City. It identifies the City's existing and future active transportation network.
Brampton
Brampton’s Active Transportation Master Plan provides the network plan, policies and programs to support Brampton’s 2040 Vision for a mosaic of safe, integrated transportation choices that emphasizes walking, cycling, and transit.
Burlington
The City of Burlington’s first Integrated Mobility Plan (IMP) provides a guide for how people and goods move in and through the community for the next 30 years was approved by Burlington City Council in 2023. Previously endorsed cycling and rural active transportation networks have been incorporated into the IMP.
Caledon
Active Transportation Master Plan, 2024, provides the necessary framework to develop and manage a more physically active transportation community in a cost-effective manner that will connect, integrate, enhance and expand Caledon's active transportation network. .
Clarington
The Town is developing Active Transportation Plan which is expected in 2025
Dufferin County
The County does not have an Active Transportation Plan, but the County identified the development of an Active Transportation Plan as a goal in the Municipal Comprehensive Review Scope, 2019.
Durham Region
The Regional Cycling Plan 2021 (RCP 2021) provides the Regional Municipality of Durham and its area municipalities with the tools and guidance necessary to support the planning, design, implementation and promotion of a connected, safe and accessible cycling network that accommodates people of all ages and abilities.
Guelph
Active Transportation Program is part of City of Guelph Transportation Master Plan, 2022.
Halton Hills
Halton Hills Active Transportation Master Plan provides planning, design and implementation direction in the form of an on and off-road active transportation master plan. It reflects the significant growth that the Town is experiencing which requires complete, healthy and active community planning for people of all ages and abilities.
Halton Region
In 2015, Halton Region completed an Active Transportation Master Plan Study to the year 2031 to develop the required strategy, infrastructure, initiatives and programs to promote non-motorized travel throughout the Region, as recommended in the Region’s Transportation Master Plan (2031) – The Road to Change.
Hamilton
Hamilton’s Cycling Master Plan guides the development and operation of its cycling infrastructure for the next twenty years.
King
Active Transportation Strategy was approved in 2020. This strategy provides an implementation plan for specific sidewalks, multi-use paths, bike routes, and midblock pedestrian crossings within the Township.
Kingston
The City of Kingston is updating its Walk ‘n’ Roll – Kingston’s Active Transportation Action Plan, 2018 which aims to achieve a 20% active transportation (AT) travel mode share in Kingston by 2034.
London
The City is developing a new Mobility Master Plan to replace the existing Transportation Master Plan and the Cycling Master Plan.
Markham
Markham's Active Transportation Master Plan (ATMP) is a long-term strategic plan to improve walking, cycling, and other modes of active transportation for everyone. The ATMP identifies actions that will be undertaken to advance a well-connected and safe active transportation network.
Mississauga
The City is currently updating the 2018 Cycling Master Plan. Public consultation is underway.
Newmarket
The Active Transportation Implementation Plan (ATIP) has identified the timing of the implementation of the routes throughout the Town where better facilities such as trails or bicycle lanes would help residents walk, cycle or roll to their destinations
Oakville
The Town is developing an update to the 2018 Transportation Master Plan and 2017 Active Transportation Master Plan. The process will use the Urban Mobility and Transportation Study to develop a new plan to accommodate growth to 2051.
To Town participates and supports the Smart Commute program, in partnership with Milton, Burlington, Halton Hills and other municipalities in the GTHA, to promote sustainable modes of commuting amongst participating businesses in Oakville.
Oshawa
The City has committed to updating the 2025 Active Transportation Master Plan.
Ottawa
Ottawa is updating the Transportation Master Plan, which will include an Active Transportation Plan, that will combine what was formerly known as the Ottawa Cycling Plan, 2013 and Ottawa Pedestrian Plan, 2013.
From 2021 to 2022, the City of Ottawa opened 20 new active transportation facilities, including multi-use paths, cycle tracks and protected intersections, totalling 14.425 km of new infrastructure. These facilities were constructed with full or partial funding from Transportation Planning Service Area budgets.
Pickering
The Active Transportation Plan is integrated into the Transportation Master Plan, 2021.
Region of Peel
The Region has an Active Transportation Implementation Plan 2018–2022. Also, it has Walk + Roll Peel, a joint initiative of the Region of Peel, the Cities of Brampton and Mississauga and the Town of Caledon.
Walk Roll Peel delivers programs in support of the Sustainable Transportation Strategy.
Richmond Hill
A Micromobility Strategy is being undertaken to guide decisions on regulating micromobility devices and sidewalk cycling, as recommended by the City’s Council approved Transportation Master Plan (2023) update. This study will address key issues including safety concerns, resident feedback, education and enforcement, and more.
Toronto
ActiveTO is a suite of programs – Major Road Closures, Cycling Network Expansion and Quiet Streets – that contribute to the health and well-being of Toronto residents by providing the space to be physically active. The City also has a Cycling Network Plan, 2021, that consists of three components: a Long-Term Cycling Network Vision, the Major City-Wide Cycling Routes, and a three-year rolling Near-Term Implementation Program.
Vaughan
The Active Transportation Implementation Framework is incorporated in the Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan Update, 2020.
Waterloo Region
The Active Transportation Plan was incorporated into the Moving Forward Transportation Master Plan in 2019.
The Region is developing a new Integrated Mobility Plan (formerly the Transportation Master Plan) that will guide the design of transportation networks and systems the allow more people to take safe, comfortable, and convenient trips by low-carbon transit and active transportation.
The Plan will be guided by TransformWR, the 2023-2027 Regional Strategic Plan, and the draft CorCAP, with the aim of reducing transportation sector emissions by more than 90% by 2051.
Whitby
The Town of Whitby's Active Transportation Plan (ATP) provides guidance to encourage people to use transit, walk and cycle more often and to make our community more connected and accessible, and safer for everyone.
Windsor
The Walk Wheel Windsor Plan (Active Transportation Master Plan) sets the foundation for developing well-connected, attractive active transportation networks that are safe, convenient and user-friendly, no matter what mode of transportation people use.
