Retention of 20 Sperling and 35 Sperling Drive

The purpose of this Staff Report is to rescind Council’s direction to declaring 29 and 35 Sperling Drive, endorsed through motions 17-G-199 and 20-A-092, as surplus to the city’s needs and to allow staff to investigate alternative uses for the facility.

Allandale Transit Mobility Hub and Downtown Mini Hub

The purpose of this Staff Report is to present a revised path forward for the Allandale Transit Mobility Hub and Downtown Mini Hub projects given significant construction price escalations due in large part to the global pandemic and other factors impacting the project timelines. This path forward includes applying to the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) to utilize the remaining dollars assigned to Barrie in a broad funding envelope related to transit, to address the escalating costs for this project since it was initially identified in 2018.

SOUTHSHORE COMMUNITY CENTRE FACILITY USER AGREEMENT RENEWAL

April 2022

In 1994, the City of Barrie entered into a 20–year facility use agreement with the Rotary Club of Barrie, The Rotary Club of Barrie–Huronia, the Barrie Canoe and Kayak Club, and the Barrie Rowing Club. This long–term agreement was executed by the City as part of the collaboration with the Barrie Rotary Club, the Huronia Rotary Club, the Barrie Rowing Club and the Barrie Canoe Club for the development and construction of a multi–purpose community facility. The Community Partners provided one–third of the funding associated with the redevelopment and expansion of the CN Master Mechanics Building to be operated as the Southshore Community Centre. The original agreement was extended after the initial 20 years, and now requires renewal
