Community Climate Change Action / Environment Funds
The Community Grants program supports not-for-profit or charitable organizations to complete a project or provide programming that benefits the residents of Dufferin County, and which serves one or more of the County’s priority areas. Climate Action is one of its strategic priorities.

Community Adaptation / Resilience Plan

Community Emissions Reduction/ Mitigation Plan
Dufferin's Climate Action Plan outlines a pathway for the community to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Community EV Strategy
The Counties of Wellington, Dufferin, Perth (Stratford and St. Marys), Huron, Bruce, and Grey and the City of Guelph worked together to develop a Regional EV Charging Network Strategy. By working across their jurisdictions, they have identified opportunities for advancing implementation using resources efficiently and increasing efforts to build a cohesive charging network throughout the region.

Community GHG Reduction Targets
Dufferin's Climate Action Plan sets a goal to reduce community GHG emissions by 10% by 2030, 40% by 2040 and reach net zero by 2050 (below 2016 levels).

Community Retrofit Program
The County completed a feasibility study for a community deep energy retrofit financing program in 2021 and is the process of developing a County retrofit financing program.

Municipal Fleet Electrification Plan
The County does not have a formal plan but has implemented 12 EV stations, and municipal EV purchases.

Dufferin Climate Action Plan Report Card 2021 identifies the County’s progress to date on the implementation of the actions in the Dufferin Climate Action Plan.

Urban Agriculture Plans
The County does not have an Urban Agriculture Plan but advances a Rural Experimental Acres Project that supports, via funding and assistance, practices that farmers would like to implement on their farms. Experimental practices could include covering crops, manure amendments, grazing, variable rate seed/fertilizer, tire deflations system/controlled traffic, strip-till/no-till, or intercropping/relay cropping.

Urban Forest Plans
Our Forest, Our Future: Dufferin County Forest Operating Plan (2021-2026) outlines how environmental, economic, and social sustainability will be achieved for the Dufferin County Forest over the next five years, building on the County’s strategies as outlined in the twenty-year management plan (2016-2036).
