Advocacy Update – Have been focused on Bill 17 and its implications for municipal green standards. See info for Ontario Climate Caucus conversations and staff support for municipal discussions related to protecting municipal green standard authorities. CAP also just submitted a submission to ERO 025-0461. It was a CAP submission and not a Clean Air Council submission so per the draft CAP advocacy policy please do check out the submission 9and have attcahed it to this email just in case that is easier) for your information just in case there is anything that could potentially cause you any issues re your day job. I don’t anticipate any issues with the input we provided but is a good example RE: CAP‘s Draft Advocacy policy.

Communications Update – Annual report 2024 has been published. We have highlighted our 25th anniversary celebrations. CAC newsletters are going out biweekly. We have launched two new community of practices on Building Performance Standards and Community Efficiency Financing. We have developed a Carbon Credits Primer for the CAC municipalities and Model maximum temperature bylaw, Model staff reports, jurisdictional scan and a backgrounder on implementing a maximum temperature bylaw for the heat adaptation project. We have a new blog by Lauren. In terms of outreach, we reached an audience of 16437 in February and 23843 in March (this spike is because of the two job postings) through social media, webinars, and other initiatives. CAP mentioned in CBC article on Anti-Idling. CAP mentioned in CBC article on Hamilton highway widening.

Communications Update – Climate Atlas report for 2023 has been finalized and published. CAC newsletters are going out biweekly. Devanshi and Sophie are currently evaluating the best interval for TCAT newsletters, given our limited capacity. 2024 Annual Report is in progress. We have a new blog by Kevin and Gaby. In terms of outreach, we reached 12,274 people in November, 14,755 in December, and 14,610 in January 2025 through social media, webinars, and other initiatives. In total, our efforts reached 191,289 people across all initiatives in 2024.

Advocacy Update Still continuing efforts on Franchise Agreement Resolutions (Guelph has joined Toronto and Ottawa, and we are presently working with London to get a resolution in front of council) can provide a verbal update on the Rescon challenge of Toronto Green Standards efforts with Ontario Climate Caucus, and there have been CAP and CAC submissions on Energy Consumer Protection Act; Integrated Energy Resource Plan; Role of Natural Gas in Ontario’s Energy System Consultation and a shout out to Devanshi who developed and managed all those submissions – 10 minutes

- Advocacy Update: Bill 212 Discussion: Provincial Approval for Municipal Bike Lanes CAP and CAC Submission, CAP submission to Standing Committee; Guelph has the Franchise agreement resolution going to Council on November 26th (Toronto has also sent that resolution to the province); Kevin presented to the Ontario Climate Caucus on the proposed LIC legislation improvements effort , Clean Air Council and CAP Integrated Energy Resource Plan input on ERO #019-928; Highway 413 Act – CAC submission
- Communications Update: TCAT is engaging with various stakeholders on Bill 212. Here is an article with David’s thoughts on Bill 212. TCAT’s October newsletter was a Special Bike Lane Edition, which focussed on evidence supporting bike lanes. We have partnered with the Climate Caucus, Tamarack Institute and Climate Reality Project to deliver a series of webinars on Technical Barriers to Advancing Municipal Climate Action. We delivered one webinar each in October and November and had over 150 attendees/webinar. CAC and TCAT newsletters are going out biweekly and monthly. We have a new blog by Kevin. We reached an audience of 14,634 in September and 23,393 in October through our social media platforms, webinars and all other initiatives. - Communications Update: Our 2023 Annual Report and Financial Statements have been published. We are working on the 2023 Climate Action Atlas Update Report. We have updated CAP‘s website to showcase our services and tools. CAC and TCAT newsletters are going out biweekly and monthly. We have a new primer on Model Franchise Agreement Review. We have three new blogs by Kevin, Gaby and Ashwini. Gaby and David are promoting CAP and TCAT initiatives using their personal LinkedIn accounts to grow our reach. We reached an audience of 15,234 in April and 21,690 in May through our social media platforms, webinars and all other initiatives.
